کنگره کانادایی ایرانی یک دعوی رسمی پارلمانی به وزیر مهاجرت، پناهندگی و شهروندی ارسال کرد و خواستار شد مرکز درخواست صدور ویزا در ایران را باز نماید.
این دعوی مجلس توسط پویان طبسی نژاد، مدیر سیاستگذاری کنگره ایرانیان کانادا معرفی و توسط جنی کوان عضو پارلمان (Vancouver East) حمایت شده است.

توضیحاتی در مورد این کمپین:
از سال 2000، دولت کانادا با مراکز درخواست صدور روادید (VACs) جهت پشتیبانی اداری صدور ویزا توسط سفارتخانه ها و کنسولگری های کانادا در خارج از کشور و سرعت بخشیدن به پردازش درخواست های اقامت موقت و دائم قرار داد بست. درحالیکه دفاتر اولیه بر اساس حجم تعداد درخواست روادید انتخاب شدند، گسترش آن ها به عنوان امکان ارائه خدمات استاندارد در مناطقی با درخواست صدور روادید کم و یا زیاد صورت گرفت. اما متاسفانه در تاریخ 7 سپتامبر 2012 سفارت کانادا در تهران تعطیل شد و کمپین IRC در سال 2013 به طور رسمی شکل گرفت و معرفی شد.
در فوریه سال 2018، کنگره ایرانیان کانادا اعلام کرد که قصد دارد مبلغ 26 میلیون دلار به منظور سرمایه گذاری در VAC در سراسر جهان، حداقل 149 مکان در 99 کشور، صرف کند. با توجه به اینکه ایران سالها یک کشور پیشرو در زمینه تقاضای روادید، از طریق مراکز صدور روادید بوده است، از ایرانیان-کانادایی میخواهیم که خواستار گشایش یک یا چند مرکز صدور ویزای کانادا در ایران شوند.
درحال حاضر، براساس آمار دولتی موجود، ایران پنجمین کشور برای درخواست روادید توریستی، و هفتمین کشور در درخواست روادید تحصیلی می باشد؛ برای درخواست اقامت دائم و مجوز کار هیچ اطلاعاتی وجود ندارد. چین نیز که کشوری پیشرو در زمینه چنین درخواست هایی است، از 7 مركز مجاز در مرزهای خود برخوردار است، و احتمالا از طریق طرح فعلی گسترش، تعداد آن ها بیشتر نیز می شود. هم اکنون زمان آن فرا رسیده که ایران اولین مرکز خود را افتتاح نماید.

The Iranian Canadian Congress has launched a formal parliamentary petition asking the Ministry of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship to open Visa Application Centre(s) in Iran.

The campaign is based on the following:Since 2000, the Canadian government has contracted Visa Application Centres (VACs) to provide administrative support to visa posts (Canadian Embassies and Consulates abroad) in the processing of temporary resident applications and permanent resident travel document applications. While the initial offices were chosen based on volume in applications to justify the opening of a VAC, their expansion was boasted as enabling the provision of standardized services in both high and low volume areas given IRCC was moving towards the implementation of biometrics, which was formally introduced in 2013.
In February 2018, IRCC announced its intention to invest $26 million dollard to expand VACs around the globe to at least 149 locations in 99 countries. Given that Iran has for many years been a leading source country for applications made through VACs, we call on Iranian-Canadians to demand the opening of one or more VACs in Iran.
Presently, based on the governments public statistics available here, Iran is the 5th source country for visitor visa applications, and 7th source country for student visa applications; there is no data available for work permits and permanent resident travel document applications. China, being the leading source country for such applications, enjoys 7 VACs within its borders, and will likely see the addition of more through the present expansion initiative. It's time Iran gets its first.
